SLICJGA Repeats and Wins 2017 Bay Point Cup!

Panama City Beach, FL - July 2017

SLICJGA players faced off against Florida Academy golfers in the 2nd Annual Ryder Cup event, the Bay Point Cup, playing 36 holes of golf on Friday (Four Ball and Foursomes) followed by 18 holes of golf playing 16 match play pairings on Saturday.  Thursday's practice round proved to be exciting as three SLICJGA players, Jimmy McLaughlin, Michael Bugyis and Tyler Linenbroker all carded a one under par round.  Strong rounds from all players gave some insight to a possible victory.

Following Friday's first and second round, the SLICJGA team led 10-6.  Saturday was followed by some very tough matches where the SLICJGA team prevailed 8 1/2 to 7 1/2.  Final score was 18 1/2 to 13 1/2.

Exciting match play featured Paige and Emma taking 1 1/2 points on the 18th hole, John Guerra winning 2 and 1 in a huge match, upsetting an opponnent that had shot even par the prior day, and a huge, almost comeback win by Trip Sanfelippo who lost 2 and 1 (while a very large gallery lined the 17th green and fairway).

Team members included Jimmy McLaughlin, Tyler Dawson, Michael Bugyis, Joe Avery, Grant Pfister, Freddy Johnson, Riley Burns, Trey Lyons, Paige Sanfelippo, Emma Buell, Sam Fix, Tyler Linenbroker, Jack Dawson, John Guerra, Charlie Giles and Tripp Sanfelippo.
